Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 1, 2026
The short version: Guitar Shark collects minimal data, never sells your information, doesn't show ads, and processes microphone audio entirely on your device. Your practice data stays on your iPhone unless you choose to sync it.
1. Who We Are
Guitar Shark is developed and operated by devZane, LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Guitar Shark mobile application ("App") and website at guitarshark.app ("Website").
2. Information We Collect
Information You Don't Give Us (Free Tools)
When you use Guitar Shark's free tools without creating an account, we collect no personal information. Specifically:
- Practice data (streaks, session time, progress) is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage
- Microphone audio used by the tuner and ear training is processed entirely on-device — it is never recorded, stored, or transmitted
- No analytics SDKs or third-party tracking code is included in the App
Information You May Give Us (Account & Subscription)
If you create an account or subscribe to Shark Mode, we may collect:
- Account information: Email address and display name
- Subscription status: Whether you have an active subscription (managed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details, credit card number, or Apple ID password)
- Synced practice data: If you opt into cross-device sync, your practice history and progress may be stored on our servers
- Support correspondence: If you email us, we retain that communication to help resolve your issue
Information Collected Automatically
- Website: Our website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of its infrastructure. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy
- App: We do not include any analytics frameworks, crash reporting SDKs, or advertising identifiers in the App. Apple may collect anonymized usage data through its own systems if you have opted in via iOS Settings
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the App
- To manage your account and subscription
- To respond to your support requests
- To send important service-related communications (e.g., security notices)
We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or targeted advertising.
4. What We Never Do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information
- We never show advertisements
- We never track you across other apps or websites
- We never record, store, or transmit microphone audio
- We never share data with data brokers
5. Third-Party Services
- Apple App Store & StoreKit: Handles all subscription billing, payment processing, and receipt validation. Apple's terms and privacy policy govern these transactions
- Cloudflare: Provides website hosting (Cloudflare Pages), API infrastructure (Cloudflare Workers), and data storage (Cloudflare D1/R2). Data may be processed in Cloudflare's global network. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy
- Resend: If we send you transactional emails (e.g., account verification), they are delivered via Resend. See Resend's Privacy Policy
We do not integrate any social media SDKs, advertising networks, or third-party analytics tools.
6. Data Storage & Security
Account and synced data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure, which employs encryption at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure.
Local practice data is stored on your device using Apple's sandboxed storage and is protected by your device's passcode and encryption.
